Ollie, 12, has Down Syndrome and lives in Leicester with his mum Jilly. He attends a special school in the local area and takes part in lots of sports including playing on a rugby team.
Ollie wanted to have a go at skateboarding so his mum contacted the Cerebra Innovation Team to see if they could design a board that would meet his specific needs. They received a skateboard adapted with additional balancing aids that Ollie has been using ever since.
Inspired by Ollie, the Cerebra Innovation Team is now working on creating another adaptation to an indoor skatepark in Swansea. The team is working on a harness system that will allow a skateboarder with a disability to participate in park skating with additional protection from falls.
