The UK-wide Relay Your Way campaign reached Sheffield today in a celebration of inclusive sport, community spirit, and wild adventure - joined by one of Britain’s happiest people.

Danny Bent, adventurer, author, BBC Special Forces contestant, and founder of multiple world-record-breaking charity events, joined local participants and families for a vibrant day of activity marking Stage 80 of the 2,500km relay. Voted one of the 100 happiest people in the UK, Danny brought his infectious energy and message of living life with purpose and joy.

“Relay Your Way is exactly the kind of magic I live for,” said Danny. “It’s full of grit, laughter and people pulling together to make the world a better place. I couldn’t be prouder to carry the baton through Sheffield, a city that knows the power of sport to change lives.”
The day also saw inspiring visits to two of the city’s leading inclusive sports clubs, the Sheffield Eagles Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) team and the Sheffield Steelkings Para Ice Hockey Club, both of which welcomed the relay team with open arms, showcasing the energy, commitment and talent that drives inclusive sport forward.
Rohan Ihlbrock, Community and Events Lead of Cerebra, the charity behind the relay, said:
“Sheffield has welcomed the Relay Your Way baton with real warmth and excitement. We’re thrilled to celebrate the amazing work of organisations like the Steelkings and the Eagles, places where young people with disabilities are empowered to play, compete and thrive.”
“Whether you run a mile, roll a few metres or cheer from the side-lines, Relay Your Way is about sending a powerful message: that every child, whatever their ability, deserves the right to sport and play.”
Relay Your Way is a 33-day inclusive journey from Glasgow to Windsor, shining a spotlight on the 3 in 4 disabled children in the UK who are currently unable to fully take part in PE and school sport*.
With a baton specially designed by the Cerebra Innovation Centre to be carried by wheelchair users, frame runners, surfers and cyclists alike, the relay connects over 10,000 participants across 301 stages, involving community groups, schools, disability sport clubs and families across the UK.
