Relay Your Way Dances into Manchester with DanceSyndrome and Bridgewater Hall

Cerebra’s Relay Your Way brought rhythm, colour and celebration to Manchester this Sunday as Stage 106 took over Bridgewater Hall for an afternoon of joyful, inclusive movement in partnership with DanceSyndrome and Be Hear Now.

In a unique twist on the traditional relay stage, families and participants of all abilities were invited to move, shake, and express themselves through two uplifting workshops, an inclusive dance session led by the award-winning DanceSyndrome team, and a vibrant music and movement experience hosted by Be Hear Now, Bridgewater Hall’s accessible music programme.

The celebration continued as dancers came outside to greet the Relay Your Way team and pose for photos, a vibrant and fun moment that brought the people together in support of inclusion.

“Today’s event was a perfect reminder that inclusion doesn’t have to be complicated, it can look like a room full of people moving freely, smiling, and feeling seen,” said Roisin McDonough, from the Relay Your Way crew. “We’re so proud to partner with DanceSyndrome and Bridgewater Hall on this magical stage.”

Relay Your Way is a 2,500km inclusive relay crossing the UK to champion every child’s right to sport and play. Created by national charity Cerebra, the 33-day event highlights the challenges faced by the 3 in 4 disabled children who cannot fully take part in PE and school sport*, and aims to create a joyful, visible movement for change.

With over 10,000 people expected to take part, the relay is made up of 301 unique stages, from paddleboarding to dance, cycling to skateboarding, each offering a chance for everyone to join in, their way.

“This was more than a relay stage, it was a celebration of belonging,” said Rohan Ihlbrock, Community and Events Lead at Cerebra. “Thank you to the teams at DanceSyndrome and Bridgewater Hall for showing us all how movement, music and creativity can break down barriers and bring people together.”
